Stairs, the critically acclaimed short horror film from writer-director Michael Kuciak, has been officially selected as one of the launch titles for the newly debuted streaming platform, HorrorHound TV.

Stairs delivers a chilling, claustrophobic narrative centered on an everyday task turned nightmare. The film’s synopsis sets the stage:
“A woman is doing laundry on a quiet night. But as she takes her basket back up to her apartment, she realizes the stairs eternally repeats as she ascends, like an Escher painting. She tries to escape this strange situation, to no avail; the doors are locked, and descending produces the same eternal result.”
The short serves as a terrifying proof-of-concept for an upcoming feature-length adaptation currently in development. Director Michael Kuciak utilizes the growing subgenre of “liminal horror” to tap into deep-seated subconscious fears.
“I’m deeply honored to have Stairs be a part of HorrorHound TV’s launch,” said Kuciak. “Stairs is a short proof-of-concept for a feature version I’m working to get made. It’s very much in the vein of a ‘liminal horror’ project, in the same tradition as films like Backrooms and, more tangentially, Skinamarink, in the sense that a seemingly normal space suddenly becomes frightening.”
