Freestyle Digital Media, the digital film distribution division of Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group, proudly announces the acquisition of VOD rights to the psychological horror thriller feature DEMENTIUM — which will be available on North American digital HD internet, DVD, cable, and satellite platforms on August 18, 2026.
DEMENTIUM tells the story of Wyatt Bailey, who retreats to a secluded cabin on a Christmas tree farm, driven by a single goal: to uncover the truth about his mother’s murder. But the only person who might hold the answer, his father, lies dead, wrapped in plastic in the trunk of his car. In desperation, Wyatt turns to the psychedelic drug DMT (Dimethyltryptamine), determined to confront his father’s spirit and ask the unthinkable: Did he kill his own wife? What follows is a hallucinatory descent into horror and hope as Wyatt is visited by two forces from beyond. His charismatic ex-girlfriend, Cora, urges him to relive their first date, tempting him with the possibility of love and redemption. At the same time, a malevolent witch stalks him, pushing him toward violence and despair. Trapped in this drug-fueled nightmare, Wyatt must navigate visions of memory, desire, and fear while battling for his soul and deciding whether the truth will destroy him or set him free.
DEMENTIUM was directed by Mark Wilson Sunderland and written by Clayton Thompson, Mark Wilson Sunderland, and Kyle Sunderland. Producers on the film include Mark Wilson Sunderland, Andrew Hunter, Sam Robinson, Kyle Sunderland, JJ Madaris, Clayton Thompson, Nathan Rigaud, Daniel Bowman, and Nathaniel Glass. The film was executive produced by Mark Wilson Sunderland, Andrew Hunter, Sam Robinson, Kyle Sunderland, JJ Madaris, Clayton Thompson, Jared Hooper, Andrew Rummell, and Nathaniel Glass. Featured actors include: Michael Aaron Milligan (‘Wyatt Bailey’), Karynn Moore (‘Cora Roberts’), Dani Deetté (‘Violet’), Kristen Rakes (‘Ashlyn Bedford’), Adam Boyer (‘Jeffery Baily’), Doug Dawson (‘Witch/Scientist’), Murretta Moss (‘Willow Bailey’), Luke Speakman (‘Young Wyatt’), Alexa Jennings (‘Officer Bishop’), Andrew Hunter (‘Officer Wainwright’), and JJ Madaris (‘Detective Cratchett’).
“This project gave us the opportunity to build the kind of creative environment I always hoped existed: one where leadership means creating trust, shared ownership, and the opportunity for the people who build something to share in its success,” said filmmaker Mark Wilson Sunderland. “I’m incredibly proud of the film we created together, but I’m even prouder of the community that came together to make it. I hope this project contributes to the conversation about the future of independent filmmaking and the responsibility of creative leadership.”
Freestyle Digital Media negotiated a deal to acquire DEMENTIUM directly with the filmmakers and Zac Reeder of Lucky 27 Media.
