Balda Film and Blue-Eyes Film & Distribution are proud to announce that the upcoming thriller, Manipulation, will hit UK cinemas from November 6, following its release in Germany and Italy.
Manipulation is the first international film by Czech director David Balda, who successfully released his debut feature Narusitel (Intruder) in 2019 at the age of eighteen. This made David one of the world’s youngest film directors to have a full-length feature film released into Czech cinemas and Netflix.
Manipulation features an international cast, including British actor James Faulkner (Game of Thrones), Féodor Atkine (Ronin), Heino Ferch (Downfall), Arnaud Binard (Emily in Paris), Predrag Bjelac (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), and Pawel Delag (Schindler’s list, Quo Vadis). The film is beautifully shot with locations in Prague, Ferrara and Bologna.
In the film, a powerful elite society operates in plain sight while exerting unseen control across Europe and beyond. What appears to be influence is, in fact, a sophisticated system of manipulation embedded within both political structures and the Church itself. As the layers are peeled back, the thriller reveals an omnipresent threat — adaptive, relentless, and far more powerful than initially believed — challenging the very notion of free will and authority in the modern world.
When announcing Manipulation, director David Balda commented: “I’m 26 years old, and I see that my generation can often struggle to figure out what’s true. I think manipulation happens everywhere – in the media, in politics, in advertising. But if the film had focused on politics, it would have been very limited to one place, because politics is a bit different in every country. That’s why I wanted to show this topic on secret societies and churches, which is very interesting and more universal and omnipresent.
My goal was to pass this strong, prominent message alongside the importance of faith and right decision making of a young generation. I think that in this film everyone will find a reference to something that they are currently experiencing, or that they encounter on a daily basis. I am very thrilled and honoured that my film will be released in the UK. I have a huge respect for the British film and music industry and I have always found lots of inspiration in British culture.”
Manipulation will be available in UK & Irish Cinemas, distributed in the UK by Blue Eyes Film & Distribution from 6th November
