ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE CELEBRATES 10 YEARS OF JEREMY SAULNIER’S PUNK ROCK NIGHTMARE GREEN ROOM WITH ANNIVERSARY SCREENINGS
The October 30 event features a limited-edition giveaway, a punk-inspired menu, and a bloody good reason to revisit the modern horror classic
Ten years ago, a punk band walked into the wrong venue and discovered that the only thing worse than a hostile crowd is a room full of neo-Nazis who don’t want you to leave alive. On October 30, Alamo Drafthouse invites audiences nationwide to revisit GREEN ROOM, writer-director Jeremy Saulnier’s ferocious, nerve-shredding thriller, with special 10th anniversary screenings at select locations across the country. The ticketed event will feature an exclusive anniversary interview with Saulnier, cast members Alia Shawkat and Macon Blair, and SFX artist Mike Fontaine, playing before the film, plus a limited-edition popcorn bucket celebrating Saulnier’s upcoming thriller SLAYGROUND, and a themed food and beverage menu built for the occasion.
Released in 2016, GREEN ROOM follows a touring punk band whose gig at a remote Pacific Northwest club takes a horrifying turn after they witness a murder. Trapped backstage and surrounded by skinheads determined to eliminate their witnesses, the band must fight for survival in a brutal siege that makes every exit look like a terrible idea. Starring Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots, Alia Shawkat, Joe Cole, and Patrick Stewart in one of his most chilling roles, GREEN ROOM remains a landmark of modern genre filmmaking: raw, relentless, and best experienced with a room full of people holding their breath.
“Jeremy Saulnier is one of the most exciting filmmakers working today, with a knack for turning ordinary situations into white-knuckle occasions,” says Jake Isgar, Film Programmer at Alamo Drafthouse. “His movies are visceral, relentless, and packed with the kind of tension that hits even harder on the big screen. We’re thrilled to celebrate the 10th anniversary of GREEN ROOM with a special screening, an exclusive giveaway, and a menu of punk-inspired bites and cocktails. Just remember to unclench your jaw before the credits roll.”
The October 30 event will include a limited-edition SLAYGROUND Popcorn Bucket, and guests can order from an exclusive menu inspired by GREEN ROOM and the Pacific Northwest setting. The lineup includes:
COWCATCHER LOADED MAC
Cavatappi pasta tossed in housemade Tillamook cheddar cheese sauce with seasoned ground beef, bacon, roasted peppers, onions, and mushrooms, finished with sriracha sour cream and sliced green onions.
AIN’T RIGHT PIZZA
A punk pizza with the sauce on top, featuring an herb-garlic oil base, pepperoni, Italian sausage, and Alamo’s signature cheese blend, topped with San Marzano tomato sauce and Parmesan, then finished with a drizzle of ranch dressing.
METAL MARG
Campo Bravo Tequila Plata, Midori melon, pineapple, lime, and agave, served with a Tajín rim and cucumber.
The GREEN ROOM anniversary screenings are part of a larger celebration of Saulnier’s uncompromising approach to genre filmmaking, leading into the release of his long-awaited next film, SLAYGROUND, on January 29, 2027. While details remain under wraps, a mysterious teaser featuring black-and-white security footage from inside a haunted attraction has offered an ominous first glimpse at what’s to come. Alamo Drafthouse will continue the celebration in early 2027 with a retrospective dedicated to Saulnier’s work, including BLUE RUIN, MURDER PARTY and a reprise of GREEN ROOM on the big screen. Tickets for the retrospective will be available in December.
Tickets for the GREEN ROOM 10th Anniversary event on October 30 are available at select Alamo Drafthouse locations nationwide. Visit drafthouse.com for participating theaters, showtimes, and tickets.
