The Buffalo Screams Horror Film Festival Announces Nominations

Buffalo Screams Horror Film Festival Offers a Smorgasbord of Ghastly Delights at Its Second Annual Awards Dinner

The Buffalo Screams Horror Film Festival has announced the nominations for the Buffalo Scream Awards.  The festival runs from Wednesday, Oct. 26th – Sunday, Oct. 30th at the Screening Room Cinema Café, located in the Northtown Plaza in Amherst, New York, and climaxes with an awards dinner at the venue sponsored by My Tomato Pie restaurant.

“We’re one of the few horror film festivals that holds an actual awards dinner,” says Emil J. Novak, one of the festival’s founders.  “It’s appropriate because our event stresses community: the international filmmaking community, the local filmmaking community, and the Buffalo arts community.”

Previously announced honorees at the awards dinner include Roy Frumkes (Street Trash), who will receive the “Dedication to Excellence in Independent Filmmaking” award, and local artist Tony Mauro, who will receive the “Genre Spirit Award” for his work on book and DVD covers, Hollywood movie posters, and pinup art.  In all, more than 30 awards will be given out.

“We have our core nominations, but we like to come up with some surprises as well,” says festival co-founder Greg Lamberson (Slime City, The Jake Helman Files).  “We’re really proud of the 48 films we’re screening this year, and we hope all of the filmmakers whose work we’re showing consider their selection as some sort of recognition.  We’re as much about encouraging new talent as we are about recognizing the pros.”

The winners will be posted at www.buffaloscreams.com.
