Several months ago I brought you beautiful people an article called Before the Walking Dead: Norman Reedus. I wrote the post because I had noticed a lot of people outside of the horror community was now taking notice of the genre and specifically the cast of the hit television show The Walking Dead. For most of these fans this is the first time many of them has seen members of the cast and that aggravated the fuck out of me. So I wrote the article to show fans that Norman Reedus has been in the game for years and then gave them 5 other films of his that were worth watching.
Now it is Laurie Holden’s turn. Laurie is known for playing Andrea on The Walking Dead but has actually been in film and television since 1980 when she was in Ray Bradbury’s The Martian Chronicles. The thought of someone that has been working since 1980 and is only known for The Walking Dead is a crime so here is five other films and television shows she has been apart of that deserves to be seen!
Ray Bradbury’s The Martian Chronicles (1980)
In 1980 Laurie Holden was a child actress and landed a role on Ray Bradbury’s The Martian Chronicles where she would appear in three episodes. This was also the first of several television appearances where she would appear in several other iconic television shows.
In this television show Holden plays the daughter of one of the astronauts that explores Mars.
Highlander: The Series (1995-96)
In the mid 90s nothing was as popular on day-time television as Highlander: The Series. The show was a spin-off of the classic film Highlander and followed the adventures of the immortal Duncan MacLeod.
In the show Holden played Debra Campbell who was once the love interested of Duncan and would later go on to marry his best friend Robert.
The X-Files – (1996 – 2002)
The late 90s and early 2000s was ruled by The X-Files. This sci-fi and horror series dominated the Fox line-up.
Holden was lucky enough to secure a recurring role as Marita Covarrubias who was planted in a web of alien conspiracies.
Silent Hill (2006)
In 2006 the video game Silent Hill was adapted after the huge success of Resident Evil. The film, which received mixed reviews, would feature an unrecognizable Holden.
Holden would portray office Cybill Bennett as she chases the mother daughter duo as they head for Silent Hill, WV to search for her daughter’s biological parents and the reason behind her nightmares
The Mist (2007)
In 2007 the Stephen King novel The Mist was adapted into a feature film that was home to one of the most shocking endings I have seen in recent years. The film, which receives a lot of shit talk, it actually a very decent popcorn horror flick.
In the film Holden portrays one of the survivors that is seeking refuge in the grocery store.
