TRAILER PARK OF TERROR (2008)

Trailer Park of Terror was a fun horror film to watch. It was gory, goofey, and had all the crude humor that one would expect from a horror film with “trailer park” in the title. Even the rock-n-roll/country music interludes that made up a bulk of the soundtrack did not diminish my fondness for the film one bit (Country music is not my favorite!). Steven Goldmann directed a real fun indie horror flick, based on the Imperium Comics series of the same name. Timothy Dolan</span> wrote the script and he packed it full of raunch and paunch!!!

The film starts out with a quick walk through of the trailer park by our leading lady, Norma, played by Nicole Hiltz (Trailer Park Boys: The Movie(2006), All Souls Day: Dia de los Muertos (2005), and lots of television shows like Bones)getting ready for a date with her fiancee. Well, the locals in the park are not happy with this and think that Norma is just plain, old, trailer park trash and does not deserve to leave the park. An altercation ensues, somebody dies, and Norma goes on a killing rampage and then blows herself up and probably anyone living on the dumpy park grounds.

Fast-forward to present day where a priest on a religious retreat with troublesome youth on a bus stop into town for a pit-stop and get “directions” that lead them straight to the trailer park. That is where the fun starts!!

Norma is now a “zombie” that has come back to kill everyone that really is not bent on saving themselves or their souls. She has fixed up her body to look like a high-class hooker with all the curves to accompany that and has a posse of former living trailer trash to help her do her biddings. The zombie effects were fairly decent and I laughed quite a bit during this film. I was quite satisfied with the level of gore and the creativeness of it.

The film starts off quick and does not stop. There are no pointless scenes and I appreciated the speed of the action and gore, with small interludes for some very humorous lines. Steven Goldmann directed a fun and bloody horror picture and should be a favorite that may garner some cult appeal down the line. I could be wrong. It may just go into obscurity and be known as a little gem of a horror flick by SHU. So got out and rent this film, its on dvd and sit back and just enjoy it. There is even a cameo by country-singer star Trace Adkins, who has been known to have involvment with the film and television industry.

One of my favorite scenes in the film is where one of the misguided youth has just found some narcotics laying around one of the trailers, uses the drugs, and thinking she is having one hell of a trip encounters one of the zombies that proceeds to saw off her arm, while the victim is laughing hysterically the whole time. After the arm is sawed off she realizes what has happened and then starts screaming hysterically! Is that maybe a message to everyone who uses drugs??? Watch out, blood-thirsty zombies may get ya when you’re guard is down and you are high as a kite!!! A very special kudos goes out to the Make-up department (Martin Astles and Drac Studios) and the Special Effects department (Jeremie and Josh Hakian).

Go and check out this fun, gory, twisted flick!
