The seasonal shift from summer to autumn brings about change in both climate and temperance. It also signifies the closing of Punktown’s monolithic carnival. It is its final night and the cacophony of the rides and their brilliant glowing lights create a tumultuous beacon; drawn to it are crowds of families and teens, as well as drug dealers, gangs and scumbags. But tonight is special for another reason: unbeknownst to the throng, the carnival isn’t the only thing ending tonight. Jeffrey Thomas takes us on another exotic journey into his popular Psi-Fi franchise, Punktown.

He has created a microcosm of a world in a world; where humanity is at the zenith of cuntliness; and it is in this pinnacle of nihilism and apathy that the denizens of Punktown live a purposely, indifferent life. Imagine a world where science has taken away every mystery of life. Existence is mundane enough without already knowing what happens to you when you die. All that remains are the horrors of the modern world – well that and the myriad horrors of other worlds; from malevolent humanoids, to the giant, spindly insect-like leg that materialized suddenly and remained static, hanging in midair over Punktown like a dystopian sword of Damocles.

As the string stretches, enough metaphoric bad shit rains down upon the Punktown crowd to overflow and clog every outhouse at the carnival; as the various stories play out you choose or rechoose which roguish figure to empathize with, and all the while the body count multiplies. Jeffrey Thomas has created the perfect disposable world; where everything is ultimately cheapened by its immediacy; where art, as well as life, is observed as a photocopy of a photocopy. Social commentary, skanky bitches, exceptional violence, harrowing moments and an absence of rules collide in this newest visit to Punktown. And with such, Thomas once again proves to be an exceptional talent whose work you should covet and admire…
