Huge Cinema Wateland Update

april 09 small Huge Cinema Wateland UpdateFebruary has arrived. My few precious weeks off the road come to an end before I know it now, and the Cinema Wasteland Movie and Memorabilia Expo’s “Spring Spectacular” 2009 is only eight weeks away. Just where does time go?…

Have you looked at the site in the past couple of weeks? All kinds of little event banners, movies, and assorted updates have been made and things are running about as smoothly as can be. Fans have been contacting us for weeks just to say they are looking forward to another great time, and I know the CW Staff is ready to cut loose after another long cold winter and party right along with everyone attending.

Don’t forget that you only have until March 6th to order advance passes and really save some decent cash from day-of-show prices. (See “Tickets” below for more.) We try to make it as cheap as possible for fans to attend and enjoy everything we offer, so don’t delay – order your advance tickets today.

Looks like I’ll have events ironed out, all the movie and film screenings sorted, and the entire weekend’s schedule of events posted by the end of February or the first week of March, so gear up and get ready for one helluva time. This will be another packed show as far as panels, events, and stuff you will only see happen at a Cinema Wasteland Show goes too.
Here’s a few weekend highlites to look forward to:

Christina Lindberg will do a talk and Q&A session with fans Friday evening.

Our very own Suspira will be hosting “Scaryoke” (karaoke) Friday night in the bar.

Saturday morning 3 Stooges may offer up a super rare Stooge feature this show… Have to wait and see on that one.

Our big Texas Chainsaw Massacre cast panel will happen Saturday afternoon.

Rickard Gramfors from Sweden’s Klubb Super 8 is flying in for the show and has offered to do a lecture and presentation on Swedish exploitation films that promises to be both amusing and very informative. That will happen Saturday afternoon.

The “Tales From Times Square” panel with 42nd Street Pete is slated for late Saturday afternoon.

“A Ghastlee Nite At The Movies” Saturday night live show will feature a ton of games and prizes for attending fans this show… Why? Because it’s “Fun and Games” night, that’s why! Come and grab some free stuff Saturday night, beginning at 8:00pm.

Danny Steinmann will be doing live commentary over his film, FRIDAY THE 13th 5: A NEW BEGINNING, on Saturday night. Mediating will be Michael Felsher from redshirtpictures.com, who was helpful in getting Danny to the show in the first place.

Add in all of the film screenings, including fan favorites like the Friday Night Short Film Block, and whatever other talks, panels, and surprises I forgot to list above and/or can cram in by the beginning of March, and it’s easy to see that April’s show promises to be another event heavy show… which is really saying something since a Wasteland show offers up 100 times more stuff to do than any other convention running today. And remember that EVERYTHING we offer is FREE with admission.

OK, how about a few of those end of the update reminders to call this thing quits…

FLIERS and POSTCARDS:  Updated fliers and postcards for April’s show have been shipping for a month now. If you’d like to help spread the Cinema Wasteland word, right now is a great time to start. And we don’t expect you to download one flier off our site and print it off yourself. Just say the word and we’ll be more than happy to send you a stack of fliers or postcards for the April show to pass out. Bars, specialty shops, video stores, tattoo shops, college campuses, music stores… All good places for Wasteland attendees to hang out. If you frequent any place that you think may be a good place to put a stack of cards and you’d like to help spread the Wasteland word, then by all means, get in touch and I’ll be more than happy to send off a stack. As always, any help in spreading the word about the show is truly appreciated.

TICKETS:  For everything we offer our attending fans, there is no better bargain out there than an advance ticket to a Cinema Wasteland Show we can find; and no better time to plan to be with us for our next show than right now. No “hidden fees” at a Wasteland show guarantees every fan through the door is treated just like the person standing next to you in line; and your ticket in gets you everything we have to offer except for an autograph from our guests. Order before 3/6/09 and you can get an advance 3-Day Pass for only $35.00. And don’t forget that a 3-Day Pass always gets you into the Dealer and Guest Room half an hour before single day pass holders without paying “early admission fees” other conventions charge fans. You can also save $5.00 on any single day pass ordered in advance before 3/6/09 and get in for only $15.00 per day.

HOTEL:  You can reserve your room by calling The Holiday Inn direct at (440) 238-8800, or reserve your room on our web site. Remember you MUST ask for ‚ “The Cinema Wasteland Rate”, or they will tell you that they are ”sold out” and have no rooms. If you are told that the hotel is sold out, remember to tell them you are with Cinema Wasteland, as we have the whole hotel blocked for our group. AND PLEASE only reserve as many rooms as you plan on using. If you choose to book more than one room, please call Lynn Ebner directly at 1-440-783-3006 and she will take care of your multiple room reservations (you will be charged one night for each room when booking multiple rooms). Things start to fill up fast now, so don’t delay and book your room today!

I can’t remember if I mentioned it last month or not, but for anyone who may be interested, under the PAST SHOWS header on the main convention page, I posted a brief history of how the Cinema Wasteland show got started back in 1998, along with some photos and a little paragraph for the first six Cinema Wasteland Movie and Memorabilia Expo’s. More to come as I find a little time in the weeks ahead.

OK, that is it for me this time around. Stay warm, and I’ll be back to wrap things up for April’s show and dish out final reminders next month.
