Kevin Tenney’s Brain Dead’s Unbelievable Local Media Reviews

brain dead mb05Wow! Kevin Tenney’s film Brain Dead is getting good reviews in places you typically don’t see good reviews on horror films — local media movie critics. What’s funny is that in the first link, Mike Schulz of the River Cities’ Reader, actually had positive things to say about a low-budget horror movie in the same article with a Nicolas Gage flick and an Academy Award nominated foreign film from last year. Just blew me away.

My favorite quote can be found in the first link:

For the price of one Knowing, I’d guess, you could probably fund at least 5,000 Brain Deads. Personally, I’d be okay with the trade.”

For the record – Knowing – $50M (estimated), Brain Dead has no budget listed in IMDBPro, but I’d bet it wasn’t more than $500K.. anybody know?

Bwahahahaha.. damn, that’s poetry to the ears of this low-budget cinema fan such as myself.

If you can find a local cinema showing this film, I think it bears checking out. Besides, one of my favorite actresses, Michelle Tomlinson (CELLAR DOOR), is in Brain Dead and from the little I’ve seen, she’s drop dead gorgeous even in the zombie goo and gore!

Brain Dead is a GREAT film. Especially love the scene when they’re fishing. “Bill? BILL? Come on now!” Great stuff. This is a really enjoyable film.

We were glad to have this film as a part of last year’s festival and the winner of the best FX category. This film definitely needs more theatrical play.
