Us Sinners Review

Tim Connelly (played by Brandon Schraml) seems like your average guy. He’s a bit timid and quiet, and considered to be kind of weird by his co-workers. Little do they know how weird he actually is…at night he has a nasty habit of having sex with and then murdering and dismembering prostitutes. Tim’s rise to serial killing is like how most serial killers started out; he witnessed a traumatic experience when he was still a child. He also has an abusive religion fanatic for a mother who never hesitates to beat him when he does something she doesn’t like. At work, Tim is the unpopular employee who everyone tries to ignore. One day, a new employee comes in named Louise (Brenda Cooney), and Tim falls for her. However, when she spurns him after a disastrous (and unexpected) meeting with Tim’s mother, Tim completely loses it.

Filmed in Connecticut and New York City and written and directed by George Snow, this film is thoroughly entertaining, and has the feel of an art film. The acting is very convincing, and the plot will keep you riveted. The special effects were also very realistic. There is one scene where Tim is cutting off a dead prostitute’s big toe that is definitely NOT for people with weak stomachs. There are a lot of implied sex scenes, however you don’t see the actual action, and there is only some nudity where Tim is taunting a victim before killing them. If you get the opportunity to see this film, every horror/thriller fan should take advantage of it. It has the perfect blend of suspense, psychological and physical horror that will make you feel sorry for Tim, and be repulsed by him.
