Filmed in just 13 hours, Jason Liquori’s Shelter is a short and tight experiment in terror with a rigorously charming performance from horror mainstay Joel D. Wynkoop (Creep, Killing Spree).

Forced to spend the day clearing out a relative’s garage, a father and daughter team soon find themselves locked in while working, eventually discovering a jar with a mysterious yellowing substance. Of course, any semi horror literate person knows what happens next. Those expecting a minor Return of the Living Dead redux will be surprised, though, by the slight twist the tale takes in its final moments.

Besides Wynkoop’s easy going portrayal, Liquori brings out the all subtle, natural aspects of his small ensemble truly leaving one interested in seeing what he might be able to do, once again, with such a rigid time structure in the near future.
