Lonzo Jones: Clowning for Hire with Zombie Cult’s Powerful Roach. By Brian Kirst

“Everyone came together and made the best movie possible,” actor/writer/editor Lonzo Jones says of the bloody and favorably reviewed Zombie Cult Massacre. Jones, who studied acting at Wright State University and film at USC, continues, “Jeff (the director) let me re-write the character (a biker). He was named Johnny and I renamed him Roach. Although, my bike kept breaking down, it was a great role and I hung out with some great bikers.”
Continuing to explain Zombie Cult’s appeal, Jones continues, “Its great working with film makers who are passionate about their craft as opposed to some studio hack doing a job for hire. I would really love to do a vampire movie, but it has to be original and really good. Zombie Cult Massacre is very unique and I got the latitude to create my own character. It a unique film for a zombie film – I mean, unequivocally someone wants to work on something great. It’s also been a great ride going to conventions and hearing feedback. The fans are cool people.”
But what happens after the zombies stop falling? Besides “Looking for challenging roles, looking for upcoming talent,” Jones connection with cult hero Jim Van Bebber is sure to play a major role in his future as well.
“I worked with Michael King, Jim Van Bebber’s DP on his directing debut, Clowns for Hire. I, also, co-wrote a film with Jim called Hell on Wheels and I’d like to get that off the ground, as well.”
Of course, out of the ground or off of the ground, anything the passionate Lonzo Jones does is sure to be revved up and ready for action – just like a certain character named Roach we all should get to know!
