Your Weekly Horror Sales: Insidious Premiers, While Others Plummit

This week at the Box Office, the top dog in the horror/scifi genre was Insidious! It premiered at #3 and took in almost $17.5 million. While that doesn’t seem like too much, it should be noted that the production budget was $4.5 million. So, Insidious has already more than tripled its cost. Great news for everyone involed! However, while Insidious does extremely well, Sucker Punch, I Am Number Four, The Rite, Red State, I Saw The Devil, and Black Death all fell 5 to 10 spots each. Ouch. Oh well… Rubber premiered too! It’s a real indie film about a killer tire…I’m not joking…

  • 3 Insidious $17,356,000
  • 7 2 Sucker Punch $8,080,000 (Total: $31,871,000)

Nothing new at the DVD Top 30 chart. Saw 3D: The Final Chapter finally fell off, and Paranormal Activity 2 probably will next week.

  • 30 25 Paranormal Activity 2 $355,000 (Total: $13,603,000)

Vampire Diaries came on to some not-as-expected numbers this week. Still, it’s don’t a lot better than a lot of the other CW11 shows. Still kinda sucks that it’s the top horror/scifi show this week…

  • Vampire Diares – 2,730,000
  • Ghost Hunters – 1,478,000
  • Being Human – 1,440,000
  • Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files – 1,316,000
