Your Weekly Horror Sales: Thor and Insidious Lead, Indie Film Death, n Dylan Gets Dogged

Not really a great week for anything horror/scifi related…

At the Box Office, Thor is at the top the chart as the #1 film and the most popular scifi film on the list. Insidious is #11 and is the most profitable horror film of 2011. All the indie films that have been making 10-20,000 each week disappear completely from the Box Office this week. And Dylan Dog…could be the biggest horror flop of the year, barely cracking $1,000,000 in two weeks.

  • 1 Thor $84,752,000
  • 11 9 Insidious $1,735,000 (Total: $50,715,000)
  • 15 13 Scream 4 $1,013,000 (Total: $37,323,000)
  • 31 18 Dylan Dog: Dead of Night $165,000 (Total: $1,176,000)
  • 35 32 Red Riding Hood $113,000 (Total: $37,553,000)
  • 36 33 I Am Number Four $106,000 (Total: $54,794,000)
  • 40 39 Beastly $57,000 (Total: $27,828,000)

At the DVD Top 30 Chart, Harry Potter still reigns supreme for the 3rd week in a row. Marvel Heroes series makes a modest debut. More importantly Black Swan serges 14 spots back up the chart and The Walking Dead Season 1 re-debuts at #24.

  • 1 1 (2) Harry Potter/Hallows $9,623,000 (Total: $70,014,000)
  • 5 5 Narnia/Dawn Treader $2,177,000 (Total: $23,284,000)
  • 9 23 Black Swan $1,288,000 (Total: $15,772,000)
  • 14 Marvel Heroes/Volume 2 $1,080,000
  • 15 Marvel Heroes/Volume 1 $1,079,000
  • 24 The Walking Dead Season 1 $530,000 (Total: $10,277,000)
  • 26 Harry Potter/Blood Prince $472,000 (Total: $113,352,000)

And last, but not least, Nielson ratings, in millions for horror/scifi related shows. Stargate sees its finale and Vampire Diaries reached its finale as well, I think. Horror/scifi is officially dead for the spring 2011 season.

  • Vampire Diaries – 2,866,000
  • Stargate Universe – 1,134,000
