There are no horror films at the Box Office that are rockin’ it even as close as scifi films this summer. Scifi and fantasy films are easily topping $100,000,000 in two weeks, whereas Super 8 made $1,000,000 on just Thursday midnight showings. Horror films are taking a second seat by a long shot. Scream 4 finally passes the $38 million mark. The Box Office’s two indie horror films, Hobo With A Shotgun and Rubber are still holding on.
1 XMen First Class $73,894,000
4 3 Pirates/Stranger Tides $25,681,000 (Total: $197,927,000)
6 5 Thor $6,356,000 (Total: $171,299,000)
12 Super 8 $1,000,000
15 11 Priest $575,000 (Total: $28,912,000)
19 28 Insidious $268,000 (Total: $53,099,000)
35 32 Scream 4 $125,000 (Total: $38,089,000)

78 71 Rubber $3,000 (Total: $92,000)
I’m glad there is a lot of life now in the DVD Top 30 Chart as opposed to two weeks ago. Black Swan actually creeped up a spot on the chart, as did Harry Potter with two and Narnia with seven. I think I will officially dub Black Swan, “The Film That Wouldn’t Die.”
5 7 Harry Potter/Hallows Part 1 $1,890,000 (Total: $72,596,000)
10 4 The Rite $1,344,000 (Total: $4,413,000)
12 6 The Roommate $961,000 (Total: $3,649,000)
14 21 Narnia/Dawn Treader $899,000 (Total: $25,353,000)
23 24 Black Swan $448,000 (Total: $18,029,000)
25 12 Thor: Tales of Asgard $407,000 (Total: $1,398,000)
27 25 Black Death $332,000 (Total: $1,270,000)
I would have more television Nielson ratings for you this week, but it seems like none have been reported for the SyFy channel except for Sanctuary. It’s sad that a CW show rerun has more viewers than a new episode of a SyFy show. Added Teen Wolf numbers from MTV.
Teen Wolf – 2,170,000
The Killing – 1,983,000
Vampire Diaries (rerun) – 1,001,000
Sanctuary – 915,000
