It’s still sad to see horror films struggling so badly this summer at The Box Office. At least they’re making some bank, though. Also, there was a little bit of resurgence in sales for the three indie films I’ve been tracking.
3 Apollo 18 $12,087,000
5 Shark Night 3D $11,264,000
8 4 Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark $7,393,000 (Total: $18,833,000)
12 12 Harry Potter/Hallows 2 $3,952,000 (Total: $376,103,000)
14 15 Cowboys & Aliens $2,832,000 (Total: $97,213,000)
16 14 Final Destination 5 $2,155,000 (Total: $41,201,000)
20 9 Fright Night $1,872,000 (Total: $17,634,000)
26 22 Transformers/Moon $865,000 (Total: $350,625,000)
31 24 Super 8 $410,000 (Total: $126,587,000)
34 31 Green Lantern $285,000 (Total: $116,349,000)
35 36 Pirates/Tides $284,000 (Total: $240,862,000)
37 47 Attack The Block $151,000 (Total: $897,000)
38 39 X-Men: First Class $147,000 (Total: $146,317,000)
56 86 Insidious $16,000 (Total: $54,009,000)
74 98 Trollhunter $3,000 (Total: $248,000)
Wow, horror-scifi films have just kind of died off on the DVD Top 30 chart.
3 2 Dexter Season 5 $3,070,000 (Total: $12,750,000)
5 4 Priest $1,479,000 (Total: $5,008,000)
27 30 Sucker Punch $177,000 (Total: $8,262,000)
True Blood lost almost a million viewers this week. Weird. Paranormal Witness, Syfy’s latest show, debuted to modest numbers. Death Valley is beginning to fall even though I kind of enjoy it.
True Blood – 4,391,000
Haven – 1,463,000
Ghost Hunters – 1,442,000
Paranormal Witness – 1,262,000
Death Valley – 1,167,000
Vampire Diaries (rerun) – 980,000
