Horror Sales: Cowboys & Aliens, Scream 4, American Horror Story, and Dexter

Sales and viewerships for horror/scifi for the week of December 16 to December 22, 2011.

Things are still looking pretty depressing at The Box Office this holiday season. Twilight is still the leading scifi movie. However, a new entry this week – The Darkest Hour – and another new entry next week – The Devil Inside – should breathe some life back into the movie statistics.

8 3 Twilight/Breaking Dawn 1 $6,671,000 (Total: $268,801,000)

29 30 Real Steel $168,000 (Total: $83,825,000)

31 28 Paranormal Activity 3 $139,000 (Total: $103,831,000)

Nothing too exciting happening over at The DVD Top 30 Chart.  Cowboys & Aliens debuts in the top 5 with almost $10mil in sales. I have the current Scream 4 total even though it has been off the chart for weeks.

4 Cowboys & Aliens $9,813,000

6 2 Harry Potter/Hallows 2 $5,134,000 (Total: $80,527,000)

15 12 Pirates/Stranger Tides $2,056,000 (Total: $15,477,000)

18 8 Super 8 $1,623,000 (Total: $10,618,000)

21 7 Harry Potter/Hallows 1 $870,000 (Total: $84,546,000)

27 26 Transformers/Moon $689,000 (Total: $43,173,000)

*N/A N/A Scream 4 N/A (Total: $3,536,000)

Tons of shows are still on break. Two new horror/scifi shows will debut in January, though. One is a Canadian series called Lost Girl about a succubus and another about copycat serial killers at Alcatraz. These new entries in the coming weeks as well as the breaks ending should mean a longer viewership list soon.

Terra Nova – 7,240,000

American Horror Story – 3,220,000 (most viewed episode of the season)

Sanctuary – 1,281,000

Grimm – 5,160,000

Dexter – 2,230,000 (most viewed episode of the season)
