As 2011 comes to an end, what better way to end the year at Horror Society than to catch up with some of our favorite scream queens? For this article, and all following wrap up articles, the genre’s best scream queens will update everyone on their highlights of 2011 and what their hopes are for 2012. This article will feature horror hostess Roxsy Tyler and actress Deneen Melody. Roxsy Tyler is the host of Carnival of Horrors and has a movie coming out in 2012 called Deer Crossing. Deneen Melody is an award-winning actress who crossed over into mainstream media in 2011 by appearing as a Bunny on NBC’s “The Playboy Club.”
Let’s start with Roxsy Tyler:
“The year of 2011 has been my best and busiest year so far! One of my favorite highlights of the year was traveling to HorrorHound Weekend in Indianapolis this past March and meeting the people there who watch my web cast (Roxsy Tyler’s Carnival of Horrors) and it was the first time I really got to meet my peers in the Horror Hosting Community. We were all put in one room all together and had a blast. It was awesome to walk into a room and almost every single person in it knows who you are. I got to meet horror hosts from all over the country and collect advice from my veterans. Another highlight was being in the film Deer Crossing, which will be out next year sometime, where I got to share a few scenes with Ernie Hudson who I’ve been a fan of since I was a little girl. I also got to shoot with my friends the Zombie Hunters (Zombie Hunters: City of the Dead) and play a really awesome character on their show named Cassandra Marx. This year has been kind to me.
My hopes for 2012 are seeing Deer Crossing get out there and I have high hopes for my show (Roxsy Tyler’s Carnival of Horrors). I’m hoping to travel around a lot more to act in other projects and meet the people who’ve shown their support for me and the things I do. I don’t know if those people out there have any idea how much I love them and appreciate them. I’m very grateful for this closing year, the year ahead, and for everyone’s support.”
Now we have Deneen Melody:
“First off, thank you, Michael! You are so supportive and kind to all of us ladies, and I’m touched that you would include me in this. Now, hmmm, I had quite a few highlights for 2011! The first one would definitely be putting together and filming the fantasy thriller, Rose White, which I not only star in, but produced and created along with Breakwall Pictures. It is based off one of my favorite fairy tales and features some amazing performances. I have to say I am extremely proud of it. Second, my first feature film, 3 Slices of Life, was released on DVD! The folks at Tinycore did such a fantastic job with the film. Also, it was such an honor to be one of the Bunnies on NBC’s The Playboy Club. Even though the show was cancelled, we all had so much fun being a part of something so iconic. To be included in the trailers and marketing material was such a nice surprise for me. The show even presented me with an opportunity to dance again, too, so hopefully those episodes will be seen at some point!
As far as 2012 goes, I have a lot going on! My first episode of the award winning web series, Western X, was released not too long ago, but there are several more episodes on the way. I love my involvement in this project so very much!! In terms of films, however, I will be playing lead roles in both Joe Davison’s Journey Into Hell, which is a fantasy horror-noir film, and the dramatic Strawberry Summer by Jose Gomez. There are a couple of secret films in the mix, too, but I’m not allowed to say anything just yet! Oh, and Rose White (the film I mentioned above), will finally be 100% finished and ready for festivals!
I hope that 2012 will be a positive and encouraging year for not only myself, but to all of those that I love and continue to work with. There are so many great people in the indie world that deserve success, and I just know they will find it!! Much love!”
Thank you Roxsy Tyler and Deneen Melody for taking the time out to update fans and readers about your year. I wish you more success and happiness as we head into 2012.
