Horror Sales: DVD sales down, television viewership up

Box office numbers, dvd sales, and television viewership for January 27 – February 2, 2012.

Nothing new at The Box Office. I’m surprised the latest Underworld film isn’t doing better. The Woman In Black and Chronicle come out to theaters today so we hopefully will have a great update next week.

2 1 Underworld: Awakening $16,017,000 (Total: $48,732,000)

25 16 The Devil Inside $854,000 (Total: $52,902,000)

33 26 Twilight/Breaking Dawn 1 $225,000 (Total: $280,596,000)

39 39 Real Steel $104,000 (Total: $85,389,000)

47 31 The Darkest Hour $55,000 (Total: $21,184,000)

As you can see, all the movies are significantly low in sales this week. The DVD Top 30 definitely took a hit this week. Still, all of the latest horror and scifi films are hanging in there.

9 4 Contagion $1,196,000 (Total: $9,262,000)

22 24 Don’t Be Afraid/Dark $461,000 (Total: $3,089,000)

23 30 Harry Potter/Hallows 2 $440,000 (Total: $85,601,000)

26 16 Cowboys & Aliens $402,000 (Total: $21,327,000)

29 19 Final Destination 5 $346,000 (Total: $4,762,000)

30 26 Apollo 18 $322,000 (Total: $3,571,000)

Face Off and Ghost Hunters are both way up in viewers compared to last week. Every show, actually, seems to be up in ratings, especially Once Upon A Time. No Grimm again this week. What are they doing, producing an episode on the spot once every two weeks?

Once Upon A Time – 10,910,000

Alcatraz – 8,340,000

Fringe – 3,330,000

The Vampire Diaries – 2,720,000

Swamp Volcano – 2,200,000

Face Off – 2,144,000

Merlin – 2,085,000

Ghost Hunters – 2,053,000

The Secret Circle – 1,750,000

Being Human – 1,660,000

Finding Bigfoot – 1,614,000

Lost Girl – 1,440,000
