Box office numbers, DVD sales, and television viewership for the week of April 27 to May 3, 2012.
This is the first really good week for horror in a long time. The Raven debuts at #7 and The Cabin In The Woods is still in the top 10 films in the nation, coming in at #9. Also, films like Chronicle and The Woman In Black stayed in the same exact place they came in last week. Things are looking bright as we head towards the releases of Dark Shadows and Chernobyl Diaries.
7 The Raven $9,539,000
9 6 The Cabin In The Woods $6,290,000 (Total: $36,453,000)
39 39 Chronicle $100,000 (Total: $64,440,000)
53 53 The Woman In Black $39,000 (Total: $54,333,000)
71 57 Silent House $16,000 (Total: $12,754,000)
The Darkest Hour still leading the pack as a scifi film at The DVD Top 30 chart. Twilight refuses to budge. Thor makes a slight reappearance on the chart probably due to the buzz about the new Avengers movie.
10 6 The Darkest Hour $1,066,000 (Total: $3,150,000)
16 16 Twilight/Dawn 1 $772,000 (Total: $91,127,000)
29 N/A Thor $364,000 (Total: $21,443,000)
Everyone still seems to be down in the ratings, especially the SyFy shows. I’m still shocked Grimm was renewed for a second season and The Vampire Diaries isn’t picking up much steam either. And, yes, Total Black Out technically isn’t a horror/scifi related television show but it is pretty damn interesting!
