R.I.P. Richard D. Zanuck

It seems like I have been doing a lot of these Horror Society obituaries lately. The 70’s and 80’s really were the golden age of horror, and unfortunately some people came into the game later than others and we are losing them in this decade. Still, honor and respect need to be given.

Richard D. Zanuck died yesterday July 13, 2012. He was 77-years-old. Richard will be most recognized among horror fans for producing Jaws and Jaws II.

Besides his two iconic films, Jaws and Jaws II,  Richard’s other horror producer credits include The Black Windmill (1974), The Island (1980), Cocoon (1985), Cocoon: The Return (1988), Oscar-winning Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007), and Dark Shadows (2012). His last work to date was on the upcoming horror flick, Hidden, due out in 2013.

Richard’s producer work in other genres includes The Target (1985), Driving Miss Daisy (1992), Deep Impact (1998), Rules of Engagement (2000), Planet of The Apes (2001), Oscar-winning Road to Perdition (2002), Oscar-nominated Big Fish (2003), Oscar-nominated Charlie and The Chocolate Factory (2005), Yes Man (2008), and Oscar-winning Alice In Wonderland (2010).
