‘Stranger Calls’ Actor Charles Durning Has Passed Away.

charlesdurningIt is with great sadness that I must report that actor Charles Durning has passed away. The unfortunate news came December 24, 2012. Reports state that Mr. Durning died from natural causes in his home in New York City at age 89.

Charles – an Oscar & Emmy nominee and 2 time Golden Globe winner – is most known to horror fans for playing the role of “John Clifford” in When A Stranger Calls and its sequel. Afterwards, in a career that lasted over fifty years, Charles would appear in other horror films including Sisters (1973), The Fury (1978), Dark Night of The Scarecrow (1981), The Rosary Murders (1987), Kinky Killers (2007), iMurders (2008), and Scavenger Killers, his last role.

Other notable appearances from Mr. Durning include The Sting (1973), Dog Day Afternoon (1975), The Muppet Movie (1979), Attica (1980), Tootsie (1982), Scarface (1983), Death of A Salesman (1985), Dick Tracy (1990), “Evening Shade,” “Everybody Loves Raymond,” “Family Guy,” and “Rescue Me.”
