(IHMDB) Rebecca’s Grave: Vexation of a Township

Synopsis

“Rebecca’s Grave: Vexation of a Township” is a disturbing, unauthorized documentary displaying crimes committed in New Brunswick since 1876.

Shelved for years in legal tie-ups and post production, the original producers filed for full disclosure under copyright laws of ‘fair use’ to push the project forward. It has been overhauled and redesigned as an unauthorized production to tour in film festivals for late 2013 and tour into fall of 2014. (See screenings at top of page.)

Originally scheduled to air in October 2009, on the Discovery Channel, the film was pulled at the last minute, due to formidable pressure applied by top politicians and New Brunswick Tourism.

Townspeople of Moncton, New Brunswick have been outraged by the media strategy and content of the documentary because of the Omerta code of silence in smaller towns. Some very powerful people do not want you to watch this.

The documentary includes controversial footage, obtained by injunction, from legal authorities to the Wallace family. One basis of the film has shown how overexposure in social media and pop culture has desensitized humans into filming a society rather than helping one.

NOTE: This film had to be reassembled from remaining fragments after an all out effort was made to block the film’s release and destroy all extant copies. Every effort has been made to restore it to the original version that was intended for broadcast.
