Horror Society Awards 2014 – Nominations Ballot Inside!

850

Ladies and gentlemen, we are back!

After a very successful awards ceremony last year, The Horror Society Awards has returned for a second year in 2014. Last year we received over 2,400 votes for the final round that determined the 2013 winners and I’m hoping for an even bigger turn out this year.

First and foremost I want to clarify the rules for the 2014 season, as I have decided to make several changes to the regulations. Here’s what you need to know to insure that your votes count for The Horror Society Awards 2014:
1. A one vote per person, per day limit is in effect. Any user who submits multiple votes within a 24 hour period will have their ballots disqualified. No spam voting this year, guys!
2. The only titles eligible for nomination MUST have a release date from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2013.
3. All titles will need to be available online, have received a limited/wide release in theaters, or be available for purchase on DVD. In regards to indie and film festival titles, you don’t need a high profile release, but the movie you submit MUST have screened two or more times to be considered. I’ll be checking.

With that out of the way, let’s address the various rounds of voting. Unlike last year, several methods will be devised to create your final 10 nominees for each category:
1. Public Vote: This is the part where all of our fantastic readers and participators vote using the rules listed above. The public voting will result in the first seven nominees in each category.
2. Judges Choice: The panel of judges – AKA: The Horror Society Staff – will debate their top choices and come up with two nominees for each category.
3. Twitter Save: You can also vote for your choices on Twitter! Make sure you use the hashtag #HSA2014 so your vote can be included. The last nominee in each category will be selected by tallying the Twitter votes and choosing the title with the most amount of votes NOT already nominated.

So this leaves us with one thing… to start the nominations ceremony!

Here are the categories that have been selected for the 2014 Horror Society Awards:
1. Best Feature Film

2. Best Short Film

3. Best Web Series

4. Best Director

5. Favorite Scream Queen

6. Favorite Scream King

7. Favorite Death Scene

8. Best Use of Special FX

9. Most Anticipated Movie of 2014

10. Favorite Book/Comic

11. Favorite Television Show

Your choices don’t necessarily have to be horror related. They can also be scifi, fantasy, or thriller. And, remember, they have to be from 2013 and follow the other regulations above!

Please send your email ballots to michael@horrorsociety.com. Also hashtag your ballots with #HSA2014 followed by the category and nominee. Example: #HSA2014 Best Director… Ellen DeGenerous.

Voting for the nominees begins today and will conclude on January 25, 2014 at midnight.
