“Bitten,” “Smallville” star Laura Vandervoort poses nude for PETA’s Anti-SeaWorld ad.

PETA is one of the world’s most influential animal rights charities, and also one of the most controversial. I may not support everything the organization does, but I will say this – they have excellent taste!

“Goosebumps,” “Smallville,” and “Instant Star” celebrity Laura Vandervoort is the latest star to appear in PETA’s annual Anti-SeaWorld advertisement. The campaign aims to bring attention to the cruelty facing aquatic animals such as killer whales and dolphins in SeaWorld attractions.

The ad, featured above, displays Laura Vandervoort in a dark, watery tank that looks more like a jail cell. The caption reads: Come see Laura as she’s confined to a tiny tank and forced to perform tricks for your entertainment. Learn the truth behind the show and boycott SeaWorld.

Former celebrities who have appeared in the Anti-SeaWorld campaign include Bob Barker, Joan Jett, Tommy Lee, and Eli Roth.

Vandervoort currently stars on the Syfy series “Bitten,” which is based on the best selling book series by Kelley Armstrong. The werewolf drama is currently awaiting a renewal announcement, with fans constantly hashtagging #RenewBitten, but this new photo of Ms. Vandervoort should hold off The Mutts for a little while longer.

For the record, I, personally, do not agree with some of the things that PETA does. They are known for using euthanasia more than I think is necessary. Some sources estimate that the organization euthanizes 90% of the animals they take in. While I think PETA needs to fix some of their practices, I do support the liberation of aquatic animals – Hell, all circus animals – around the world, and I certainly support an actress as talented, beautiful, and philanthropic as Laura Vandervoort.
