Marco Werber and Roberta’s Song

Roberta-smCreepy, Eerie, Spooky, and a bunch of other words that you can think of that end with a “y” can easily describe the sounds of horror coming from Roberta’s Song! (Click the Pic)

This is the latest soundtrack of horror from Marco Werba. Marco is a composer that has worked on several projects and this latest music from “Darkness Surround Roberta” is creepy and beautiful at the same time.

Now I don’t know much about this movie, but it is from Joe Zaso and the producers of Barricade, so I’m sure it going to be bloody and good. So along with a good flick comes the good music. Marco has hit the nail on the head with the atmospheric and spooky sounds for this soundtrack. The entire CD is packed with shit to give you nightmares….or the sounds of them at least.

Check out some of the info about Marco and how he got with Joe Zaso for this latest project…

” As a die-hard fan of Italian horror and giallo films, I can’t quite describe how surreal it is to have a soundtrack album CD released by Italians from one of your own film productions – which is in fact an Italian-made giallo, much in the spirit of the very movies I’ve always loved.

My first trip to Italy was in Rome (June, 1996) at the FANTAFESTIVAL where my first giallo feature film, 5 DEAD ON THE CRIMSON CANVAS (directed by Joseph Parda) won an award. It was one of the most incredible and happiest experiences of my life – an experience that would change my life forever. It was at this very festival where I met a musician named Marco Werba, who kindly gave me CDs of his work (a variety of Italian film scores) which I immediately took a liking to. He had a style that was lyrical and haunting, yet always evocative and inspiring. Over the years, Marco and I remained friends from afar who constantly updated each other with our work progress. Any time I made a trip to Rome, I couldn’t pass up a visit with Marco. Although I always tried find a place for him in one of my film productions, the opportunity never came about as many of my directors always seemed to work frequently with specific composers. Now, after 11 years, the opportunity finally came about.

Marco is a true lover of cinema and cinema music – and it wasn’t difficult for him to understand just what I was looking for when I sought out to do DARKNESS SURROUNDS ROBERTA. As a producer, I was looking for something traditional, elegant, classy and effective – something that seemed to be lacking in this day and age of compilation soundtracks loaded with indifferent electronic music and interchangeable garage band sounds. Although I suggested the styles of such film score giants as Bernard Herrmann, Ennio Morricone, Jerry Goldsmith and Pino Donaggio, it was the collaboration of Marco and director Giovanni Pianigiani that gave DARKNESS SURROUNDS ROBERTA a score more satisfactory than any of my other films. From Roberta’s haunting theme to the moments of driving suspense to the moments of lust and terror, I found every track to be a joy.

That said, I wish to thank Marco for an exciting and beautiful score, and for being so loyal, professional and tremendously enthusiastic the whole way through.

Enjoy!”
