Heidi Martinuzzi

It’s official! Heidi Martinuzzi (one of the leads of Troma’s over-the-top Felissa Rose splatter fest Slaughter Party) is truly one of the contemporary grand dames of horror. Not only has she just received her own Wikipedia entry – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heidi_Martinuzzi – but, Wretched, the film she wrote and directed just took awards for “Best Leading Lady” (Jaimie Andrews) and “Best Leading Man” (The irreplaceable Joe Bob Briggs) at The South African Horror Fest 2008 in October. The powerful Martinuzzi guided the making of Wretched from beginning to end and her cast’s glory is definitely hers as well.

Martinuzzi, well regarded as a fright film journalist, is a pioneer for women in horror in other aspects as well. She maintains www.prettyscary.net – the incredible website devoted to celebrating the women of horror (and the occasional male) and is often found ‘cleavering’ about on her own website – www.heidimartinuzzi.com – as well.

In fact, the only thing ‘wretched’ about Martinuzzi would probably be if you didn’t do yourself a favor and keep abreast of her accomplishments, regularly, at the websites listed above. Besides, that Wikipedia article could always use a little updating – right?
