Fangori’a Weekend of Horrors

It’s that time of year again, and Fangoria and Creation are doing the Weekend of Horror Convention in Rosemont, IL. This year the lineup looks great, and the festivities are a plenty with a new Tattoo contest, Mushroomhead, Chicago’s own DJ Brianne, and more. Horror Society will be there in full force this year again to bring you all the latest from the con. Plenty of vendors, a great group of guests, fun, celebs, and more. “Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors” Brings Three Monstrous days to Chicago, March 6-8, 2009

“Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors” convention invades the Midwest March 6-8 with the gory best of horror talent from both film and television. This fright-filled three-day event will take place at the Wyndham Chicago O’Hare Hotel, 6810 North Mannheim Road, Rosemont, IL.

Exciting guests and programs set for Fango’s Chicago blast will include top terror directors: George A. Romero, director of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, DAWN OF THE DEAD, CREEPSHOW, MARTIN, KNIGHTRIDERS and THE DARK HALF, will have the first news and footage from his latest zombie flick; Toby Wilkins, director of SPLINTER and THE GRUDGE 3; R.W. Goodwin, director of new sci-fi comedy ALIEN TRESPASS, as well as THE X-FILES and TRU CALLING; Tobe Hooper, director of TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, POLTERGEIST,’SALEM’S LOT and episodes of MASTERS OF HORROR; Gary Sherman, director of RAW MEAT, VICE SQUAD and DEAD & BURIED; Herschell Gordon Lewis, Godfather of Gore and director of BLOOD FEAST, TWO THOUSAND MANIACS!, WIZARD OF GORE and many others; and Lloyd Kaufman, Troma president and director of POULTRYGEIST, TERROR FIRMER, TROMEO & JULIET and the TOXIC AVENGER films.

Two special horror events to be highlighted at Fango include:

TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE Movies Reunion with director Tobe Hooper; Bill Moseley (“Chop-Top”); Marilyn Burns (“Sally”); Caroline Williams (“Stretch”); Bill Johnson (“Leathefcae”); John Dugan (“Grandpa”); and Tom Savini, makeup FX legend

Masters of Italian Horror Panel with Ruggero Deodato (CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST), Lamberto Bava (DEMONS) and FX artist/director Sergio Stivaletti (MOTHER OF TEARS)

Scare stars not to miss include: Doug Bradley, HELLRAISER’s Pinhead and featured in the new Clive Barker film BOOK OF BLOOD; Tom Towles, actor from HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER, HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, HALLOWEEN and GRINDHOUSE; and Sheila Larken, actress who played “Margaret Scully” on THE X-FILES.

New this year will be a “Terrifying Tattoo Contest,” sponsored by Savage Tattoo, and “Fango Spooksmodel Competition.” Prizes will be awarded!

On Friday evening at 9:00 PM, FANGORIA brings back the “Shock-N-Roll Spooktacular,” featuring music maniacs Mushroomhead, Fashion Bomb and DK Brianne, plus Fango’s spokemodel Shannon Lark.

The Chicago convention will host a costume contest and offer photo opps, autographs and a giant dealers’ marketplace. Also, stop by Fango’s jam-packed exclusive horror movie festival and watch advance previews of such films as THE GRUDGE 3, VINYAN, SPLINTER, PLAGUE TOWN, VINDICATION and many more.

“Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors” is sponsored by Savage Tattoo, Coffin Case Baby Tattoo and Make-Up Artist Magazine and is co-produced by FANGORIA Magazine, the world’s most popular publication for readers who enjoy horror in film, television and other media, and leading entertainment marketing and merchandising company, Creation Entertainment.

General admission tickets are available in advance for $20 or at the door for $20 on Friday and $25 for Saturday or Sunday. Advance tickets are available through www.fangocon.com. Tickets for children 6-12 are $15 at the door only, and children six and under are free with parent or guardian. Show hours are Friday 2:00 – 8:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday are 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM.

This convention is the first event planned for FANGORIA magazine’s 30th Anniversary 2009 Tour. Other cities will include Los Angeles April 17-19 at the Los Angeles Convention Center and New York City, June 5-7 at the Javits Center.
