Horror Realm Convention

With geeks, movie buffs, and techies across the country cooling down after hot sweaty nerd-gasms over last weekend’s San Diego Comic Con, it seems as good a time as any to bring up Pittsburgh’s own Horror Realm Convention that’ll run September 18-20.

But gee, September’s an awful ways away isn’t it? True, but the number one rule for any con is always get your tickets early. (That, and never cosplay alone. It’s just sad.) And on that note, for all you Christmas-shopping-in-August people out there, tickets for Horror Realm are officially on sale at the Horror Realm Convention website, and whereas SDCC tickets went for hundreds of dollars, even for those who didn’t buy from a scalper, one, two, and three-day passes to Horror Realm will cost you only $10, $15, and $20 respectively.

The convention will host horror authors, artists, and special guests including actors Ken Foree (Dawn of the Dead, Rob Zombie’s Halloween, Brutal Massacre: A Comedy), Bill Moseley (Repo! The Genetic Opera, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, the remake of Night of the Living Dead, and about half of Rob Zombie’s horror movies), and John Amplas (George Romero’s Martin, and Day of the Dead). Also appearing will be writer/director/producer Jeff Lieberman whose credits include the 1970s classic Squirm, cult film Blue Sunshine, and the more recent Satan’s Little Helper. And to top it all off, you can meet a veritable horde of actors whose careers can each be summed up as “that guy who was that cool zombie that maybe you remember from that one Romero movie.”
