Scout Taylor-Compton In Talks With New Horror-Comedy

…and It’s not Halloween 3D!

Although, recently announced and nothing is set in stone yet, Scout Taylor-Compton is rumored to star in a new horror-comedy called The Gatekeeper. The Gatekeeper would be Scout’s sixth horror film, the others being Wicked Little Things, Halloween, April Fools Day Remake, Halloween II, and the recently announced Halloween 3D. This is what we know about the plot, taken from IMDB:

“The elements of a boy’s typical coming of age film are most always the same – a school-aged setting, a best friend, a love interest and her jackass boyfriend. The Gatekeeper is guilty of all of these things, but adds the missing piece, that subtle, often overlooked element than can really make one feel for a character – Zombies. Unlike Joe College, Bruce Johnson isn’t going to finally give her that love letter than he wrote freshman year – nor is he going to catch her just moments before she steps on that international flight, because frankly, Bruce doesn’t have the balls. It’s going to take something much less sappy than a kiss in a rain, something much more realistic, much more drastic. That something is coming his way, and it wants to eat his brains.”

Sounds like The Gatekeeper could be up to par with Dance of The Dead. Bruce Cambell (Evil Dead) and John Goodman (Red State) are also in talks to star in this film, which would really bring a good sense of horror-comedy. Confirmed cast members include Lea Thompson (Jaws 3D), Sam Huntington (Dylan Dog: Dead of Night), and Matt O’Leary (Sorority Row). The Gatekeeper is written and directed by Isaac Meisenheimer, who was assistant director of the Day of Dead Remake. Created on a budget of $4,500,000 and produced by Circle of Confusion, this film is looking at a late 2011 release date…but I think that would be really rushing it.

Let’s see how this one pans out!
