With a title like Bikini Girls On Ice, I’d imagine most of you would write this film off as a really crappy B-movie. I’ll admit – the opening kill was a blonde, big breasted white girl wearing a bikini in the dead of night in the woods. I thought sarcastically, “Oh, I’m sure she’s going to live.” It all painted a bad picture of Bikini Girls On Ice and I really started to think this movie was going to be crap. What I didn’t know is that this film made the rounds at various film festivals, picked up several awards, and is actually pretty good. Ridiculous target audience aimed plot aside, it was good.
The plot of Bikini Girls On Ice centers around two friends, Jenna and Sam, as they take part in a bikini car wash. The soccer team they’re a part of needs extra funds for something that is never really explained. Coincidentally, the women (and two men) get stranded at an abandoned gas station and, despite the warnings of a town local, they decide to just host the car wash there, at the abandoned gas station. And it would appear the attendant still inhabits the area and he loves to put dead girls on ice.
As I briefly mentioned before, Bikini Girls On Ice is definitely targeted at a male audience. Just when you think there aren’t enough almost-naked girls, a yellow bus filled with more attractive women in swim suits pulls up. Then, of course, when they are washing cars they spray each other, use their boobs as sponges, bend over, cover each other in foam, etc. The scenes were definitely meant to be erotic and as part of the male audience the film targets I said, “Hell, yeah!” But real fans of horror, don’t worry, there’s room for you in this film too. The killer is very angry and very brutal. This means that there is a lot of good gore scenes. You’d think three hits to the face with a shovel would kill a car washer, but no, the killer figures that ten will do the trick. Luckily, there are enough women that the killer kills a decent number of women before the film is over. Again, gore fans, rejoice!
Still, Bikini Girls On Ice does contain some flaws. I would nominate the film for the “most awkward kiss ever” award because it has one that is quite awkward. Also, at one point Jenna and Sam are running from the killer and they hide in a shed. They lock the door from the inside and the killer can’t get in even though the lock is literally one of those little hook latches. I was like, “Really?” Finally, during one of the other chase scenes, one of the women stab the killer in the leg. The leg?! How about the face? Or the heart? Or the neck?! Why would you go for the leg?!
Bikini Girls On Ice is a good slasher film. It was more than I expected and is a decent addition to the slasher genre. I would recommend it for those who like the subgenre and are looking for a film to watch at night. It’s available On Demand for only $4.99.
