Monsterman's 31 Days of Halloween Horror Picks

Ernest Scared Stupid (1991)

In store for you unsuspecting folks tonight is a film that has become another Halloween tradition in my family. Ernest Scared Stupid is my favorite  in the late Jim Varney’s catalog of films devoted to the lovable, yet incredibly dumb character that made him famous, Ernest P. Worrell. The movie is campy, over the top, full of sophmoric humor and fun as hell. You just can’t go an entire Halloween season without watching this one.

Ernest Scared Stupid is written by John R. Cherry III, Coke Sams and Charles Gale. It is directed by John R. Cherry III. The cast includes Jim Varney, Eartha Kitt, Austin Nagler, Shay Astar, Jonas Moscartolo, John Cadenhead, Bill Byrge.

Plot Synopsis

Everybody’s favorite know-it-all, Ernest P. Worrell, scares up heaps of hilarious laughs in this frightfully funny comedy! The loveable lunkhead is in for a devil of a time when he accidentally unleashes an evil demon from its sacred tomb, causing the awakened foe to go on a devastating rampage. Ernest desperately attempts to prevent the destruction of town, but a 200-year-old curse renders Ernest Scared Stupid! And that’s when the fun and adventure begin! Loaded with uproarious hilarity, and a host of outrageously kooky characters, this treat delivers off-the-wall nuttiness that’s sure to drive you wild any time of the year!
