I love movies of all genres.  Yes, I do favor horror and sci-fi over others but I am an avid movie lover.  However, as much as I love movies there are very few television shows that I obsess over like I do films.  One of those television shows is the Canadian based Trailer Park Boys.

Sadly, I jumped on the band wagon a bit late back in 2011 when I got Netflix for the first time.  I watched the seven seasons available at the time along with two of the movies.  A few months later I sat down and binge watched the seven seasons and two films all over again.  I could not get enough of the show.  After watching the show I went on to another show and with time forgot about TPB until Netflix released season 8 along with both Christmas specials.  The first special I watched was the brand new Live at the North Pole.  Now check out what I thought about it!

**Spoiler Alert**This holiday special follows the mis-adventures of Julian, Bubbles, Ricky, and the hamburger eating Randy.  Ricky is caught stealing Christmas decorations for Julian to sell and is sent to jail.  Jail during the holidays is the place to be and Ricky is happy as hell he is in jail.  Bubbles gets a phone call from the president of the Trailer Park Boys fan club wanting them to come to the states for a live performance.  They take what money Julian has made already and bail Ricky out of jail against his will.

They lie to Ricky and tell him they are going to the North Pole so he can make peace with SantaJesusGod.  They fly to the states with many layovers to arrive at their destination.  However, they are not alone.  Shitard Mr. Lahey follows them because he thinks the boys has kidnapped his precious Randy.  He pretends to be a cop and plants a camera in their dressing room.  Then the stand up portion of the show begins where they try to convince Ricky that SantaJesusGod is real without Lahey ruining their Christmas.**Spoiler Alert**

The Trailer Park Boys is easily one of my favorite shows and for damn good reason.  Their jokes and vulgar humor caters to those that grew up during the South Park generation and outgrew the show’s dick and fart jokes.  This film is a solid continuation of what they started with the show but it goes to hell when the viewer reaches the stand up portion.

The acting in this one needs split into halves.  The first half of the film is superb.  All characters are the same way they are in the show and that is perfect.  Sadly, the second half of the film is the stand-up portion and the cast tries to stay in character and keep the antics going like it was the show but are unable to pull it off.  This bit failed to pull me in and it was somewhat embarrassing.

The story for this one is the same as the first Xmas Special from way back in 2004.   They only difference is Cory and Trevor are no longer in it and the film splits off to a stand up portion that I mentioned earlier.

Finally the film has some great laughs in the first part.  I actually laughed harder at a couple of the gags at the beginning of this film than I did at the other films.  However, the second half completely let me down.  Overall, Trailer Park Boys: Live at the North Pole is a hilarious new film that gives us the same story already told once but with new laughs.  However, to really enjoy the film you need to turn it off before the film hits the stage.  I recommend this one.
