Where Are They Now? : Traci Lind

600full-traci-lindHere’s one of those moments when an edition of “Where Are They Now?” becomes “Where Did They Go?” Born in 1968 in Kentucky, Traci Lind was one of the many women who defined the horror and science fiction genres in the 80’s and 90’s. At age 16 she started her career in Hollywood with featured appearances on numerous television shows including “21 Jump Street,” “CBS Specials,” “Fame,” “Ryan’s Home” and “Werewolf.” Also working as a model, Traci became the actress for Lou Gramm’s 1987 music video, Midnight Blue, off of his album Ready or Not. The music video later propelled the single to the #1 spot on the Rock Chart and the #5 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

It wasn’t until 1988 that Traci became well known in the horror scene, when she co-starred as Alex in Fright Night 2 alongside Roddy McDowall and William Ragsdale. Fright Night 2 would open at the #15 spot during its first week in theaters. The following year she booked two supporting roles in Spellcaster and erotic-scifi flick The Handmaid’s Tale before co-starring as Christie in cult classic Class of 1990 alongside Bradley Gregg and Malcolm McDowell. In 1993 she starred as Missy Mcloud in my horror-comedy My Boyfriend’s Back, which hit theaters and opened at #16 at the box office. Her last role in these categories was a supporting one in horror-drama No Strings Attached (1997).

During her numerous horror and science fiction roles, she also co-starred in Code Name: Wolverine (1996) with Antonio Sabato Jr. She also produced and was featured in a drama, Red Meat (1997), and appeared in another drama, Cadillac, in the same year. Her last credited role was a cameo in comedy Kiss & Tell.

So, where is Traci Lindi now?

She’s gone. For reasons unknown to anyone besides Traci, she left Hollywood behind seemingly overnight. There are rumors that two very toxic, very public relationships are to blame for her transition to a more private life, but maybe she just got bored of the industry. In a July 2013 interview with NobleMania, Traci seemed to have no recollection of her previous accomplishments and was quite disrespectful to the interviewer; literally shutting him down at every question. Rumor has it she’s married with two kids, so I hope life is being good to her now.

  1. I looked for Lind after looking at the Handmaid’s Tale film from the 80s. Interestingly she goes quiet in 1997, and that was when she publicised her relationship with Dodi El Fayed (although it had been years earlier) negatively. Dodi had been killed only 3 weeks earlier, and I can’t help feeling that her publicly bad mouthing him in public might have got her some very negative attention from ‘representatives’ of Dodi’s father.
