Shockwave: Countdown to Disaster
“The End is Near”

Los Angeles, CA: MarVista’s Shockwave has set a date for destruction. This disaster focused feature will be available on Digital and HD on August 29th. The film, from director Nick Lyon (Isle of the Dead, 2016), stars Rib Hillis (Haunting of the Innocent), Stacey Oristano (“Sons of the Devil”), Bruce Thomas (Army of Darkness), and Ed Amatrudo. The film’s lead producer was Autumn Federici (Patient Seven). This thriller deals with a doomsday device, which is accidentally released, leaving the world in peril. More release details on this exciting thriller are hosted here.

The film’s latest sneak peek involves a series of production stills. The images show actor Rib Hillis as Rob and Stacey Oristano as Kate. Their lives are endangered once the Earth’s crust begins to open up. Other stills show actor Tyler Perez as Jake, escaping a cataclysm. Meanwhile, a government body does their best to prepare for the worst. These latest stills provide the closest look yet of Shockwave!

As well, director Lyon has recently revealed the difficulties of working on a disaster film. Lyon has said: “working on a disaster genre film is always one of the toughest things to do in film in my opinion, especially low budget film where resources are limited…[however] it was possible because of a great writer, producer, cast and crew who were all very supportive in entrusting the vision I had.” Some of Lyon’s vision can be seen in the latest promotional details, with more to come this August 29th, when the film is released.

Official Synopsis: When massive volcanic storms begin to spew from the Earth, geophysicist Kate Ferris must convince the Department of Defense that the storms are being caused by a deadly seismic weapon and find a way to stop the device.

Release Date: August 29th, 2017 (DIGITAL, HD).

  1. Absolute Garbage – This show has all the tropes: middle eastern terrorists, evil goverment goons, bumbling computer nerds, angsty teenager, and brilliant but disconnected scientists. Add in late-night-TV-advertising quality special effects and plot holes you can drive a truck through. The premise starts bad and goes steadily down hill. Why don’t the people who presumably built the weapon not know how to arm it? Why do the “special forces” totally bungle an ambush? Why is there any mystery about where the weapon is? How do you run away from an earthquake/volcano/tornado on foot and get away? How did this show ever get made? How did this crap show get a bunch of five-star reviews on iTunes? (I am now convinced that every iTunes five-star review comes from the mother of an actor in the show)
