Several years ago I befriended filmmaker Paul Ragsdale while he was promoting his holiday themed slasher Cinco de Mayo. I reviewed the film and fell in love with it. I kept in touch with Paul over the years and reviewed his follow up Streets of Vengeance. He’s one hell of a filmmaker who really knows how to deliver horror films that were inspired by the films of yesteryear.

A couple years back he announced that he would be co-directing a slasher with his Streets of Vengeance co-director Angelica De Alba titled Slashlorette Party. As a father I love a good pun and as a horror fan I loved a good slasher so I was on board for this one. I’ve kept up to date with this release and when Paul shared a picture of the blu I had to reach out to him about the film. He was kind enough to send over a link for me to check it out. Thanks Paul!

**Spoiler Alert** The film follows a bridal party who rent a cabin in the woods for a joined bachelor/bachelorette party. The bride to be, Brie, is having seconds thoughts and doesn’t believe she loves her soon to be husband enough to marry him. One of her friends, her maid of honor, convinces her not to break off the marriage and continue with their party. However, their party turns deadly when the party goers is picked off one by one by a pair of masked killers. **Spoiler Alert**

I love seeing how much Paul has grown as a filmmaker especially when he paired up with Angelica. Cinco de Mayo was a solid slasher but it was far from polished. However, Streets of Vengeance was leagues better in terms of aesthetics. The cinematography and lighting was absolutely gorgeous when compared to his previous slasher. Slashlorette Party is another progression for the two. The look and feel of this one far surpasses the film’s budget. These two not on proved that they can work together but they can pull off the impossible. I’ve reviewed so many movies with similar budgets and this one does not look like an indie production.

The acting in this one is absolutely fantastic. The characters are great. Some contrast others and brings a lot to the scene. The cast goes above and beyond for their roles with some delivering some pretty intense performances. I really liked seeing Ginger Lynn in her role. I was able to meet her at the last Cinema Wasteland and she was the nicest celebrity that I’ve met yet so it was cool seeing her take on this particular role. It was also cool to see Pool Party Massacre director Drew Marvick. Him and his now iconic beard did deliver a familiar performance but it was still fun to see.

The story for has a lot going on which is way more than the synopsis I wrote above. We have many layers to this slasher which does make it rather hectic at times but it works for the most part. I liked the mental angle and the awkward brothers. However, the joined bachelor/bachelorette party does make it a little awkward at times. Also, the woods and stick portion of the film (When you watch it you will understand what I mean) makes sense to a degree but it is a bit out of place. I think the film would be a lot more entertaining if it was a little more straight forward.

Finally, the kills in this one are tribute to slasher films of yesteryear. We get some of the classic gags like the machete through the back, to the head, and so forth. The practical effects look great but the film is not a gory one for you sick fucks. Overall, Slashlorette Party is everything I was looking for in a modern slasher. It has an amazing cast, beautiful women, blood, and Ginger Lynn. I highly recommend checking this one out if you have the chance because you will not be disappointed. This is one well made and polished slasher that is sure to impress the most critical of horror fans.
