Paroxysm: An Independent Horror Anthology launches its third volume on Kickstarter October 1st

Paroxysm Volume III, the third installment of the independent black and white horror anthology series, is coming to Kickstarter on October 1st, 2021! This year’s collection features a thrilling and harrowing assortment of horror delights from up-and-coming indie artists, cartoonists, and writers in the horror genre. Available as a digital PDF and a print edition made of recycled paper in sleek black with eerie white type, Paroxysm Volume III is sure to terrify any and all fans of indie horror.

Witness killer cryptids patrolling the forests near a boy scout troupe, parasitic fungi devouring a corporate office, a one-act play where the stage directions become violently sentient, and the unsavory machinations of a bonsai enthusiast, all told by fresh queer, trans, women, and other minority voices in the horror genre. Sure to entrance fans of Long Lost by Matthew Erman and Lisa Sterle, The Low, Low Woods by Carmen Maria Machado, Dani, and Tamra Bonvillain, and Through The Woods by Emily Carrol, this volume is set to be the biggest and most spine-chilling yet.

Featuring contributions from Natalia Lopes (I Thought I Saw a Deer Last Night), Melissa Brinks (The Compendium of Magical Beasts), Mandy Robertson (Don’t Cry Witch, Star-Crossed), Danielle Draik (For We Are Many) John Jennison (This Deck is Haunted) and more, Paroxysm Volume III will contain a mixture of illustrations, comics, poetry and prose interpreting the theme of “evolve.”

“[It’s why] I love horror; the simple idea of something crazier than ourselves being out there can make us lose sleep at night, but also provide some sort of relief. A relief that may now be scarcely found outside our own doors,” wrote creator Natalia Lopes in the introduction to Volume II.

The Kickstarter for Paroxysm Volume III launches October 1st and ends at 6PM on Halloween Night. The campaign will feature rewards including a digital PDF, print copy, a bundle of all three volumes, original artwork, and more exclusive backer goodies.
