Black Castle Productions Presents Retro Horror-Thriller Short Worst Thing You’ve Ever Done

Worst Thing You’ve Ever Done, the latest short film from Black Castle Productions, takes audiences back to the summer nights of the 1990s — when the biggest fears weren’t just what lurked in the dark, but what your friends really thought of you.

The film made its world premiere at the HorrOrigins Film Festival and has since screened at the 25th Annual Screamfest Horror Film Festival in Los Angeles and the 10th Annual Nightmares Film Festival in Columbus, Ohio, where it was nominated for Best Thriller Short. Up next, it heads to Screamfest New Orleans and Kevin Smith’s first-ever Smodcastle Horrorfest in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey.

Starring Brady Gentry (Desperation Road) and Bix Krieger (V/H/S Beyond), the story follows two best friends who crash the last highschool graduation party of the summer. When a harmless party game takes a dark turn, bravado and buried guilt boil over — and a night of fun spirals into something much darker.

The film is directed by PJ Germain and co-written by Autumn Palen, with haunting, VHS-era inspired cinematography by Jeff Billings (Chad Ferrin’s upcoming Dorthea). Billings’ lens captures the eerie mix of nostalgia and unease that defines the film’s suburban setting.

Produced by Sabrina Cooper and Jonathan James of Black Castle Productions, the short also features casting lead by executive producer Havilah Malone and Shannon Bobo, and a moody, retro score from composer Tangelene Bolton (Freaky Tales, Unseen, Warrior Nun).

“It’s about what we hide from each other—and ourselves—when we’re desperate to fit in,” says director PJ Germain.

Equal parts teen nostalgia and psychological horror, Worst Thing You’ve Ever Done will hit a nerve with anyone who’s ever looked back and wondered if they were the villain in someone else’s story.
