Normally I’d say, “good fucking luck,” to any independent fan film that was trying to raise $75,000 in donations via IndieGoGo, but you know what… I think Halloween: The Night Evil Died could actually pull it off. I remember horror fans were very excited about this unofficial Halloween installment when I first announced it a few weeks ago. That cult following along with the inclusion of original cast member Tony Moran and the blessing of Steve Miner (director of Halloween: H20) makes Halloween: The Night Evil Died a contender to be something great. The fundraiser is running for two months, and only time will tell if this succeeds in its crowd funding or not.
Speaking of Halloween: H20, Halloween: The Night Evil Died is hoping to continue that story-line, the plot progression that coursed through Halloween, Halloween II and Halloween: H20 and ignored the events of Halloween IV and Halloween V. The fan film will pick up right where Halloween: Resurrection left off, with Michael Myers waking up in the morgue. He kills the coroner and disappears for fifteen years… only to resurface around Halloween when John Tate’s daughter, Emma Tate, has turned 17. See where this is headed yet? John Tate has recently passed away due to cancer and the secret of their family legacy has left Emma ill prepared for that horror that awaits her. Luckily, an unforeseen meeting with her great grandmother Pamela Strode in the city of Haddonfield, Illinois fills in the blanks and sets Emma on the path to stopping Michael Myers after decades of gruesome murders.
The feature film is written and directed by Kohl V. Bladen and Jeffrey Moore in a joint collaboration between Vaugh-Michael Pictures and Final Stop Media. Both men also produced alongside cinematographer Francisco Matias. Cast members so far include Tony Moran (Halloween), Juli Ericksen (“Salem”), Sarah Cortez (The Conjuring 2) and Brandon Tyler Russell. Emily Lanelle, Emily Pearse, Loyal Thomas Ruddell and Gradey Filion.
The fundraiser is offering terrific perks such as a free stream of the completed film, a digital download of the completed film, a DVD copy of the completed film, on set printed photos, a full sized poster, a t-shirt signed by the cast and crew, a ticket to the movie premiere, a visit to the set, special thanks credit, producer credit, executive producer credit and an entry into a raffle that’ll give one lucky donation giver the opportunity to have a speaking role in the movie. Find all the perks and their costs here.
