Horror Sales: Scifi-fantasy films still on top

This weekend at the Box Office, superhero and fantasy films are still the reigning kings. Rubber falls off the chart, while Scream 4 just barely hangs on another week. Hobo With A Shotgun and the foreign Trollhunter both make leaps up the chart. Yay, indie horror!

1 Green Lantern $70,961,000

2 1 Super 8 $31,555,000 (Total: $83,086,000)

4 2 X-Men: First Class $17,790,000 (Total: $126,214,000)

8 5 Pirates/Stranger Tides $10,258,000 (Total: $225,358,000)

11 9 Thor $1,746,000 (Total: $176,172,000)

43 71 Trollhunter $24,000 (Total: $32,000)

46 46 Scream 4 $24,000 (Total: $38,170,000)

53 60 Hobo With A Shotgun $12,000 (Total: $663,000)

As far as the DVD top 30 chart is concerned, nothing new or interesting. Black Swan falls off the chart and I started to include numbers for Drive Angry because of its supernatural themes.

3 1 True Blood Season 3 $4,964,000 (Total: $27,665,000)

9 4 I Am Number Four $1,382,000 (Total: $11,201,000)

14 8 Harry Potter/Hallows Part 1 $1,013,000 (Total: $74,758,000)

18 3 Drive Angry $867,000 (Total: $3,371,000)

21 12 The Rite $647,000 (Total: $6,014,000)

24 19 The Roommate $489,000 (Total: $4,824,000)

26 23 Narnia/Dawn Treader $455,000 (Total: $25,381,000)

We still have a lot of shows that I have Nielson Ratings for. It’s good to see every show except Hollywood Treasure (and the Vampire Diary rerun) have over 1,000,000 viewers. Did anyone watch True Blood the other night? I didn’t…but look for the #s next week!
