Horror Sales: Straw Dogs, X-Men, and The Vampire Diaries

Contagion is still the top earning horrific film this week, coming in at #2. The remake of Straw Dogs debuts at #5 with average numbers. Add it to the pile of horror films this summer – Shark Night, Don’t Be Afraid, Apollo 18, and Fright Night – who have underperformed at the Box Office.

X-Men: First class takes the top spot on the DVD Top 30 chart with over $10m made. Fringe’s season three DVD debuts to decent numbers. Aside from those two points, nothing new or interesting.

With True Blood having seen its season finale, The Vampire Diaries is the top horror/scifi television show on the air. The Secret Circle does just ok, but lost almost 1m viewers. Death Valley, however, gained a couple thousand.
