Horror Sales: ‘Dark Shadows,’ ‘Raven’, ‘Cabin’

Box office numbers, DVD sales, and television viewership for the week of May 11 to May 17, 2012.

Horror does pretty well at the box office this week. Dark Shadows debuts at #2, although this actually isn’t that great. The budget is $150million so as of right now, the Johnny Depp horror-comedy is another flop. The Raven should make back its budget by the end of June, but it’s nothing to write home about right now. The Cabin In The Woods is still doing very well and has already made back 103% of its budget. Also, The Road and Deadtime debuted…go give the little indie films some love this week!

2 Dark Shadows $38,138,000
12 8 The Raven $1,964,000 (Total: $15,309,000)
14 10 The Cabin In The Woods $1,387,000 (Total: $40,170,000)
43 The Road $82,000
51 Deadtime $50,000
59 55 Chronicle $36,000 (Total: $64,523,000)

Twilight is still on the DVD Top 30 chart… yay? Thor shoots up the chart more, obviously due to The Avengers movie. The Darkest Hour slows down and Harry Potter re-emerges.

10 20 Twilight/Dawn 1 $972,000 (Total: $92,572,000)
12 23 Thor $823,000 (Total: $22,678,000)
26 21 The Darkest Hour $356,000 (Total: $3,886,000)
29 N/A Harry Potter/Hallows 2 $337,000 (Total: $88,354,000)

Season finale of Once Upon A Time was this week, but it has officially been renewed for a second season. Same with Grimm, although it’s finale is tonight (while I’m typing this, actually). Ghost Hunters and The Killing up in viewers, all the others are kind of down.

Once Upon A Time – 9,450,000
Grimm – 4,480,000
Ghost Hunters – 1,812,000
Supernatural – 1,608,000
The Killing – 1,606,000
Eureka – 1,486,000
Total Black Out – 1,257,000
Lost Girl – 1,231,000
Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files – 871,000
