Australian Film Companies Hometown Pictures and Encryption Films are excited to reveal the first Official Images from Horror Crime film ‘Barrow’.
The film was shot in late 2013 and is slated to premiere this year. The images paint a stylish and harrowing vision for the Western Australian produced film.
Director Wade K. Savage has referred to the film as ‘Silence of the Lambs meets True Detective’. “It’s a really foreboding and tense origin story, with an incredible cast,” Savage commented. “I’m happy we’re now able to reveal these amazing images, as they give us a really good insight into the world we’ve created”.
Producer/Writer Peter Gurbiel added: “It’s exciting to begin throwing around some hints as to what we’ve been up to. As thrilled with the performances and the mechanics of the storytelling that we’ve pulled together, the film just looks so damn gorgeous. This is a great team of some of the country’s brightest young filmmaking talent – we’re suitably proud, and impressed.”
‘Barrow’ is funded through the Film and Television Institute of WA’s LiNK Funding Scheme, with additional production support from ScreenWest.
SYNOPSIS
Twenty years to the day that her Father murdered her Mother, Carly Jacobs is returned her childhood jewellery box that had been confiscated with the police investigation. At first providing little to unlock the mystery of that horrible night, Carly returns the box to her long abandoned family home where she finds that both time and memory are more connected than she could ever have imagined possible.

Peter Gurbiel is an award winning writer, producer and director. ‘Barrow’ is the follow up outing to previous hit ‘The Owl’ which took out Best Film at the Western Australian Screen Awards in 2013, and the People’s Choice Award after the film’s premiere at Cinefest Oz.
Wade K. Savage is an award winning theatre and film director. His most recent short film ‘The Owl’ won both Best Film and People’s Choice at the WA Screen Awards. His previous film “Fallout: Lanius” (also 2013) went viral and had press globally.
