LOS ANGELES, November 3, 2014Byron A. Martin Productions is proud to announce his new edgy crime drama entitled Wolverine Hotel with award-winning Quebec director Patricia Chica and Los Angeles star Riley Keough (Mad Max: Fury Road, Magic Mike, The Runaways).

The Atlantic Film Festival’s Strategic Partners in Halifax is one of the world’s preeminent co‐production/co-financing markets focusing on feature film, TV and web based fiction. They selected Wolverine Hotel and its production team Byron A. Martin (producer) and Patricia Chica (director) to represent Canada at the Los Cabos International FilmFestival and Co-Production Forum in Mexico.

According to Laura Mackenzie, director of Strategic Partners: “Byron A. Martin has been selected for our inaugural project exchange program. He embodies the world class talent we have here in Canada and the project he has in development is impressive and perfectly suited for co-production.”

Written by Canadian Andrew Lynch, Wolverine Hotel is inspired by the real-life characters that the author encountered at the tail of his hard drug days while living in a skid row inn, struggling to keep his shattered life from slipping between the cracks. The story delves into the gritty, realistic underground world of three lowlife drug addicts trapped in a dark muck of their own creation, which ultimately results in their complete destruction. Actress Riley Keough is attached to play the lead role of Mandy.

“My focus at Los Cabos will be to confirm a co-production partner for Wolverine Hotel and to secure a well known Sales Agent”, says Martin.

Martin and Chica’s first undertaking Serpent’s Lullaby was launched at the 67th Cannes Film Festival in the prestigious “Coup de Coeur” selection of the Short Film Corner. To date, the 13-minute fantasy drama has screened at more than a dozen film festivals including Fantasia, Rhode Island and Hollyshorts. Both Wolverine Hotel (screenplay), and Serpent’s Lullaby (short) were in Official Competition at the 5th Oaxaca FilmFest.
