DEATHSCRIBE 2009
The 2nd Annual International Festival of Horror Radio Plays

Monday, October 5th, 2009 at the historic Music Box Theatre, 8pm (doors open at 7:30pm)

As attendees of last year’s autumnal festivities can attest, DEATHSCRIBE is an extravaganza of theatrical entertainment unlike any other. An evening of live olde-time horror drama, in which renowned local actors and foley sound artists perform chilling, thrilling, blood-spilling radio plays carefully crafted to raise the hairs on your neck and have you checking under the bed upon your return home.

Continuing our pursuit of intelligent, imaginative horror storytelling, we solicited and received nearly 100 original works from both theatre and horror aficionados around the world. DEATHSCRIBE 2009 will present the following five original horror radio plays:

“Bags of Blood” by Daniel Caffrey, directed by Don Hall
“The Most Beautiful Woman in the World” by Clint Sheffer, directed by Cecilie Keenan
“The Dust Gods of Dr. Gaul” by Jude Mire, directed by Robert Breuler
“The Skinny Man” by Scott T. Barsotti, directed by Katie McLean
“Remembrance” by Chris Hainsworth, directed by Nic Dimond

This year’s celebrity panel, awarding the “Best of the Fest,” includes Chicago stage legend (and co-screenwriter of RE-ANIMATOR) William J. Norris, noted H.P. Lovecraft scholar Kenneth Hite, Steppenwolf ensemble member (and “Mr. Trick” from BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER) K. Todd Freeman, A Red Orchid Theatre artistic director Guy Van Swearingen, Kitley’s Krypt head corpse Jon Kitley, Natalie Slater from BRUTAL AS HELL.com & BAKE AND DESTROY, and WildClaw artistic associate Karen Tarjan.

In addition to the plays and musical performances by Seeking Wonderland, Pat Smilie and ElvisBride, we are honored to present exclusive live readings from Quirk Publishing’s smash SENSE AND SENSIBILITY AND SEA MONSTERS! Plus special guests, prizes, surprises and much, much more!

Scariest of all, it’s hosted by none other than WildClaw’s own Aaron “Dr. AC” Christensen.

DEATHSCRIBE is the perfect way to kick off the Chicago Halloween season. We sincerely hope to see you there. Please spread the word – One night only!!!

Note: If you are a teacher, please let your students know that they can get in for ½ price rush tickets the day of the show. (If you’re a student, please let your classmates know.)
