Shrieks and Creaks at GraveFace with Marshmallow Ghosts. By Brian Kirst
GraveFace, the most awesomely named and musically adventurous independent label in Chicago, has issued a vinyl Halloween treat for headphone lovers everywhere.
Featuring members of Appleseed Cast, Black Moth Super Rainbow (whose latest release landed them on the Top Ten College Chart in the Rolling Stone this past summer), Dreamend and Casket Girls, this limited 7 inch release features thick black swirled vinyl for ‘Shrieks’ (Side A) and luminous orange licorice whirly whirls on ‘Creaks’ (Side B).
This ethereal musical extravaganza also comes with a free download option and, as with all of GraveFace’s sonic expressions, its cover artwork (pictured here) is worthy of framing – particularly for the dudes in your family named Casper.
When checking out the GraveFace website, you’re also sure to notice other horror influenced offerings such as Monster Movie’s ‘Transistor’ CD and Dreamend’s (Detroit’s most beloved touring band) recording entitled ‘as if by ghosts’, proving that Halloween not only belongs to the Mrs. Voorhees’ of the world but to the magnificent GraveFace records, as well!
