Treevenge Review

Treevenge
Review by Rick Romanowski

I have heard so much about this movie and I even watched a one-minute clip of it on YouTube and I finally got to see it during Terror in the Aisles. This movie is of course, Treevenge; a brutal, bloody, exploitation movie about pine trees that take revenge on humans after being cut down, shredded and sold to people. Honestly, I did not find anything wrong with this movie at all! Everything about it was fun and gory. It’s not scary at all, but since it is a revenge movie it’s done in the style of Cannibal Holocaust and Day of the Woman… and the beginning credits has the theme of Cannibal Holocaust playing over it.

Treevenge does a great job showing the grim and grittiness of tree harvesting and packing and an even better job of showing the wretched, dirtiness and evil of people as they cut them down and sell them to one another. Since this movie is told from the tree’s point of view, there are so many scenes where you see the evil woodsmen chopping trees us, sacking them and “viciously” selling them to families. The close ups, the POV angles and the fast past, quick cut motions really add to this experience.

What I like even more about this is the humorous revenge aspect of the movie. When the nice, stereotypical suburban family gets hacked up and the blood begins to pump all over the family… it’s a gorefest and extremely hilarious. Or, when a tree shoves it’s pine branch into a girls mouth, then out her eye and straight into the guy’s eye and out his mouth, it’s just so much fun. Then ending when all the trees are attacking people in the neighborhood is an obvious homage to Dawn of the Dead.

If you looking for a fun, wacky, blood soaked Christmas time then you must see this short film. It really makes you feel for those trees and it’s kind of sad to some extent. I know that after watching it… I’m glad I don’t buy real trees for Christmas. All I can say is, this is a must for any horror fan of the holidays.
