Where Are They Now: Felicia Day

This week I’ll profile one of my favorite actresses – Felicia Day. She first came to fame when she appeared in an 8 episode stint on Buffy the Vampire Slayer as potential Slayer, Vi. She was pretty dorky and skittish, but as the season wore on, she really embraced her “could be” power and became quite the fighter. She even participated in the climactic series finale when Buffy and her army of Slayers took on thousands of prehistoric vampires. As some of you know, Buffy was continued into season 8 as a comic book. The publishing company has acquired Felicia’s likeness, so Vi appeared in two ‘episodes’ of season 8.

So, where did Felicia head after Sunnydale? She appeared on the short lived fantasy/scifi show, Dollhouse. She appeared in two episodes, both of which have been cited as the best in the series. Coincidentally, Dollhouse starred another Buffy alumni, Eliza Dushku.

Next, she appeared in the SyFy original film, Red: Werewolf Hunter. In what I think is the best SyFy film to date, Felicia plays a woman who slays werewolves along with other members of her family. An uber-werewolf is causing trouble near her home, trouble that her fiance ends up finding himself thrown into. As I said before, this was actually a really good werewolf movie, one of the best since Cursed. I’m constantly looking for any news about a DVD release, but if you have a chance to see Red before that, I’d definitely recommend it.

Currently, she produces and stars in The Guild, which is an award winning webseries. Now in its fifth season, The Guild, revolves around the central player, Codex (Day), who is the leader of a group who spend countless hours playing an online scifi-rpg. The online series has been so successful, it has spawned its own video games. The second video game is due out soon.

While it’s nice to see her continuing on in the scifi genre, I think horror fans like myself would much rather see her killing something – whether it be vampires or werewolves.

NEXT WEEK: I’ll profile someone a lot more well known in the genre. I’ll give you a hint, one word – unicorn. Can you guess who?

  1. I can't believe you talked about Felicia Day and completely neglected to mention Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog!!! She's so lovely in it! (And it's amazing!)

Also, given that Joss Whedon did Buffy AND Dollhouse (AND Dr. Horrible, for that matter), I don't think her starring along with Eliza Dushku is coincidental. ;)
