Black Lagoon: a creature feature by Brandon Slagle.

blacklagoonBrandon Slagle is one of the freshest independent directors out there right now. He’s churned out several hits at this point, most notably Area 51 Confidential and The Black Dahlia Haunting. Slagle is joined on his directing journeys with one of the industries leading scream queens, Devanny Pinn. Now the pair has  teamed up to bring horror fans another sure-fire hit, the creature feature tentatively titled Black Lagoon. But, wait! There’s more! Brandon and Devanny will also be reuniting with three cast members from their last feature, The Black Dahlia Haunting. It’s like a big horror family reunion! Ok, but back to Black Lagoon

In Black Lagoon, “A marine biologist is assigned to investigate the mysterious deaths of marine life in an inland salt water lake. When she arrives she discovers the town’s dark secret – an ancient legend that may in fact be real…” While the creature featured in Black Lagoon has yet to be confirmed, I can tell you that the monster will be a real, physically made prop and not a CGI paper thin SyFy creature. So, who else has been tasked with creating such a beast? None other than “Monster Man” and effects icon Cleve Hall!

Cleve Hall is also part of the cast, playing the role of Callan Amissus. Slagle, Pinn, and Hall will be joined on screen by fellow SyFy brother Britt Griffith of “Ghost Hunters” fame, my favorite Black Dahlia Alexis Iacono, and Jim Mitchell. Rumor has it another ghost hunter, K.J. McCormick, could join the cast of this film.

That’s all I can really tell you about Black Lagoon for now, except that a teaser trailer is currently in the works. Does this mean we’ll get an indiegogo page too? I hope so. This is definitely a project I wouldn’t mind throwing some bucks at.
